THE FOCUS PRODUCTIONS STORY Focus Productions brings together the talents of the award-winning British writer, producer and director Martin Weitz, a former World In Action journalist, with the Australian-born, book publisher Ralph Maddern. Even on low budgets FOCUS don't make cheap programmes and whilst our range of our productions is extraordinarily broad, they are all highly original, thought-provoking and produced to very high standards. Our latest film Brainman is typical of this approach and the ecstatic reviews it received in the New York Times and Newsday when it was premiered by the Discovery Science Channel in February 2005 bear this out: "a beautiful film about a beautiful mind". (for US reviews of Brainman go to our Reviews Section) Recent FOCUS documentaries range from the amazing archaeological discoveries made about the Copper Scroll featured in the Pharaoh's Holy Treasure on BBC2 to the real story of British Blues in John Mayall – the godfather of British Blues on BBC2 and BBC4. From the investigation of the Mother Teresa’s alleged miracle in The Saint-Making Business on Channel 4 to the extraordinary story of the genius British savant Daniel Savant in Brainman / The Boy with the Incredible Brain. (Discovery and Five TV). Earlier films that made a major impact include a disturbing investigation into the possibility that bras might cause breast cancer (Bras- the bare facts) produced for Channel 4 and Pig at the Ritz a surreal comedy documentary for Five TV. Our associated radio production division has produced some of BBC Radio 4’s most feted programmes such as This Sceptred Isle, the BBC’s biggest selling cassette, The Sony Gold Award-winning series on the WWII Evacuation The Evacuation- the true story and Andrew Sach's acclaimed history of the Jews " The Jewish Journey " described as "a triumph for Radio 4" by The Spectator. Focus are now an award-winning independent TV and DVD production company with offices in Bristol and Stratford and always welcome good ideas and suggestions for programmes.
